Pilgrims & Indians

Last week Aiden had his kindergarten feast! Oh my goodness. Seriously. Who knew my little man could be so adorable dressed in a paper pilgrim outfit!?!

Kindergarten is so simple. Popcorn, apples, juice, and paper costumes. That's a party for them. And it's an awesome party! I have a tendency to think bigger is better and every party/holiday/event is nothing unless I have gone over the top and have used every idea I can  possibly pull from the creative drawer in my brain. I'm trying to be more simple this time around for the holidays. Small simple things. Seems to work well for kindergartners.

Get on the Fiber Train

For four night in a row Aiden has given us one heck of a scare waking up screaming due to abdominal pain. We took him into his doctor yesterday and long story short he will be staying near near a toilet for the next few days and in the long run I will be keeping a closer eye on his fiber intake. I am kind of confused how he does't get enough in the first place though...that boy could live on black beans and oatmeal if I let him.

After a morning of research here are my tips for getting some more fiber into our little ones bodies.

Breakfast:
More dried fruits and nuts. This is simple top oatmeal or yogurt off. It's like candy for kids!

Snacks:
Bananas are a top choice in our house most days. However, I had no idea, they actually contribute to constipation, so does apple sauce. I will now be pushing pears and apples WITH the skin on. I mostly do peel then slice them because the girls have a tendency to choke easily.
Berries and cream, berries and cream...I'm a little lad who loves berries and cream!
Sorry...I couldn't resist. But berries are a great source of fiber, and most kids pop berries down like their life depends on it. Berries that are the highest in fiber are raspberries, elderberries, blackberries, and boysenberries to name a few.

Dinner:
I cook dinner every night with the exception of maybe twice a month we will eat out. Sometimes Mama needs a break. Using whole wheat for everything makes all the difference. It's such a simple switch Cody and I did a few years ago. Breads, crackers, rice, and pasta are just a few things I will never buy in white. Ever. In my eyes it's pointless to. All things whole grain are rich in fiber. In general for dinner...my rule is simple. I keep it colorful, fun, and in interesting. The more I get the kiddos involved with choosing and prepping dinner the more enthused they are to eat it.

Here is my cheat sheet ill be going off of for now.

I can do it.

Halloween Festivities Kindergarten Style.

I am so lucky to be involved with Aiden’s classroom as much as I am. I feel like I get to see part of a world that is simply his and has a huge influence on his growth in life. Earlier this week Cody got a window into his classroom as well. Our station together was pumpkin decoration. Aiden makes such a cute pirate I can't stand it!

We love that we get to meet so many of his friends and get a feel for who he spends his time with during the day.

They decorated cookies and "Mummy" juice boxes. One mom brought mini mud dirt pies with worms, so stinking cute!

He writes his name on EVERYTHING lately. Everything.

Aiden was chosen to be the MUMMY! Haha...He totally loved it. And his team did an awesome job.

All the kiddos had such different and creative costumes. I think my fav was Stitch! Aiden said the same. =]

Hello Friday. Goodbye Stuff.

I was head over heals in love with this weather yesterday, and today is even better. Oh man...it's the most refreshing thing I've experienced since we have moved back. Cloudy. Breezy. Dim. I'm even wearing a sweater AND a scarf! Exciting stuff.

Spring was messy, crazy, and confusing this year. So, I opted for Fall Cleaning. We sorted, threw away and now it's time for a YARD SALE! This would be the hard part for me. I posted a few of my larger baby items I need to get rid of on Craigslist last week, got a few responses, and can't reply. I'm not a hoarder. My house is usually very clean, and neat looking. And a week ago I would have added "just DON'T open a closet...whatever you do, just don't." I just don't like to get rid of stuff. Even if someone else (the hubby) thinks it's garbage, I see it as a work in progress. Something that can be turned into something wonderful. I love that concept. It's just me, but it took over and made my mind (and closets) unorganized and stressful. So here we are planning a yard sale now. A yard sale that should probably be serving margaritas at 6am if I am going to be able to actually let go of a good amount of stuff. Ugh.

I will now be writing and managing the blog Successful Health & Wealth. It is my moms business blog to promote and inform on Weight Loss Challenges, Herbalife, and general health and fitness. Please check it out and follow her as well!

It's Friday, we are about to head out for Storytime in a bit, but I wanted to share our last Friday with you first! Aiden's Jog-a-Thon. Man, that boy can RUN! He surprised the heck out of me with 14 laps in 20 minutes.

We have the harvest festival tonight, which Aiden has been talking about alllll week long. It's going to be grand. His best buddy, Elephant, even got to go to school with him today thanks to the Sharing Bag. It's a good Friday.

Run Aiden, RUN!

Good morning! Tomorrow is Aiden's very first Jog-a-Thon! They let the kids loose on a 200 yard course for 20 minutes, and see how many laps they can go. He will be dressed in green (class color) and ready to run! I'll be there bright (it will actually be dark) and early to help set up, and whatever else I'll be needed for I guess.

You can still make a donation to support Aiden's school if you would like! Visit mejogathon.com

Can't wait to share more with you tonight!

A pretty and positive thought for this morning...
